Now, there are loads of things we stock up on this time of year — sunscreen, hats, towels, snacks (of course) — but we’ve had a few other super cool products sent our way for review recently that we just had to share. (Note: So much so that we’re affiliates for some of the items you see below. Thanks for helping to support the site!)

Brush on Block Protective Lip Oil SPF 32

I’m a lip gloss and lip balm fiend. And while I do like to keep my skin and lips protected from the summer sun, I usually find that anything with sunscreen in it dries my lips out. Badly. But, I tried Brush on Block Protective Lip Oil SPF 32 and, dude, no drying out! It really did protect and hydrate — plus, it had a beautiful nude tint that brought out the natural color of my lips. Vegan and cruelty-free, using the mineral ingredients Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide to help protect from UVA and UVB sun damage, this stuff goes with me everywhere. —Jenn

Merrell Choprock Strap Sandal

I love a good sport sandal, and these water-friendly Choprock Strap Sandals ($100) from Merrell definitely fit the bill. They’re substantial and sturdy with serious Vibram Megagrip tread, so, honestly, they grip as well as most hiking boots I’ve worn, even on wet terrain. The adjustability (nine hook and three point straps) is also noteworthy, as is the clever design with stretchy, soft fabric beneath the adjustable straps to keep it from rubbing. I learned that, if you’re actually walking through water, those straps may slide around a bit, but overall, these are definitely the sandals you want with you on your summertime adventures, whether that’s camping, kayaking, or just walking the beach. —Kristen

Free Country B Tied Up Tank and B Outside the Line Legging

When you wear workout gear as much as I do (read: pretty much daily, often all day), you’re always on the lookout for items that combine the look you want with functionality … ideally at a great price. I’ve been getting loads of compliments on these two pieces from Free Country this summer for just those reasons. The B Tied Up Tank ($20) has a higher neckline, which is great if you tend to flash a lot of cleav in the usual scoopnecks, and it can be worn several ways (tied into a crop, tied lower, like I’ve done here, or left long and loose). Plus, the lightweight fabric is great for hot weather. The B Outside the Line Legging ($30), though, is what people are pulling me aside to ask about. The teal color that I’ve got is pretty striking, and the mesh detail (which was slightly itchy on the first wear, but has softened with each wash) looks sharp while maximizing airflow, but, let’s be real — it’s probably the pockets that have people all jazzed. And the long length means they’ll work well going into fall, too. Score! —Kristen
